Atal celebrates 7 years of Business
We are Celebrating 7 years of providing the highest quality of service. From taking Design responsibility, materials supply, to on-site training and support or installation by our own experienced teams. All under our atal warranty scheme.
Over the past 7 years, the company has experienced encouraging growth in all areas of the business, now employing more members of staff in each area than ever before. This is largely due to the commitment from the directors to ensure that all staff members remain highly trained, for example; our talented CAD designers and technicians are all up to date on the latest British standards, providing valuable support to architects, contractors, and engineers.
Below is a photograph from the latest staff engagement session where each department worked together to analyse current performance, to encourage growth and to socialise afterwards.
One of the aims of the company is to ensure that we install the best provide the most cost effective waterproofing products and systems available. This is why we maintain our partnership with Schomburg and Naue that sees atal operate as the sole distriputors for their market leading waterproofing systems.
In 2017, the recognition of atal’s success wasn’t just identified by the UK’s construction industry, but by the Parliamentary Review Committee that invited atal’s Managing Director David Rees to share best practices. He contributed along with a small number of selected companies with the aim of raising industry standards.
2017 was a busy year for growth as we moved location to keep up the level of growth the company was experiencing. A £400,000 expansion meant moving from our old 2,100 sq ft unit at Crown Business Park to a new 12,222 sq ft unit at nearby Tafarnaubach Industrial Estate. This is now our home, enabling us to continually expand the reach of our company. We also house a large warehouse that enables us to stock large quanitites of products to be ready for supply and install within a 24 hour turnaround.
Here's some highlighted and high profile projects that we've worked on;

The atal team were alarmed recently to learn of the levels of exploitation globally, especially within construction. We're dedicating a month between the 7th of August and the 7th of September! For this month we are partnering with Manumit Coffee Roastery. Manumit offers dignity & hope to survivors of modern slavery through training & employment. Their coffee is roasted by men and women who have suffered horrendous exploitation at the hands of traffickers and modern slave traders but are now rebuilding their lives.
At their Cardiff-based Roastery they produce excellent coffee that combats modern slavery on 3 levels:
• Sourcing specialty coffee beans from ethical, slavery free suppliers.
• Training and employing survivors of modern slavery as coffeeroasters.
• Investing all profits in local and international anti-slavery projects.
Two of our Staff members, Meg and Callum were invited to visit the roastery to learn about Manumit.
To establish this partnership, over the next month we will be distributing Manumit Coffee to our Clients in order to raise awareness for the work of manumit but also to highlight the alarming figures within the industry with regards to modern slavery.
If you're unsure as to what Modern Slavery can look like in practise, then please watch this video created by Stronger Together, CIOB & Creative Colony. It portrays the story of construction workers that were forced into unpaid manuel labour whilst sleeping in diabolical situations.
The following statistics are from the International Labour Organisation;
- At any given time in 2016, an estimated 40.3 million people are in modern slavery, including 24.9 million in forced labour and 15.4 million in forced marriage.
- It means there are 5.4 victims of modern slavery for every 1,000 people in the world.
- 1 in 4 victims of modern slavery are children.
- Out of the 24.9 million people trapped in forced labour, 16 million people are exploited in the private sector such as domestic work, construction or agriculture; 4.8 million persons in forced sexual exploitation, and 4 million persons in forced labour imposed by state authorities.
- Women and girls are disproportionately affected by forced labour, accounting for 99% of victims in the commercial sex industry, and 58% in other sectors.
These statistics are alarming - Join with us by sharing the message about modern day slavery. You may receive some of the coffee that has been roasted by survivors of modern slavery, with proceeds contributing to their freedom!
